Chinese Zodiac Daily Horoscope · Sinabro Labs
A great day to start a new hobby or study. Just take that first step.
Today is well-suited for Rat to move steadily toward your goals. Valuing the process over visible results keeps stress away. Requests and proposals land better today.
First of the zodiac. Quick-witted, resourceful, with a sharp instinct for crises and money.
The Rat thinks fast and reads situations well, finding a way through almost anything. Diligent and thrifty, with a realistic eye that never misses a small opportunity. Can seem secretive, though, and tends to worry.
Calm on the surface but deeply affectionate. Values stability and trust, and is devoted once committed. May struggle to express feelings — saying them aloud often helps.
Strong where analysis and planning matter — finance, accounting, research, planning, or running a business. Gathering and using information is the key to success.
A natural saver with a strong sense for money. Planned saving and investing suit better than impulse buying; info-driven money management is a strength.

Sin–Ja–Jin Water — peak seat
Among the smallest and slowest, yet it came first. The story goes that it rode on the Ox through the night and leapt off just before the finish. It won by judgement, not by strength. The Ja (子) hour (11pm–1am) is where the day turns over, which is why this seat opens the twelve — a fit the tale seems to know.
Read from the Ja (子) seat. What do these terms mean?
Six Harmony one of the six pairs the twelve fold into · Three Harmony three signs that together form one element · Same Seat the same branch twice · Neutral no fixed harmony or clash · Harm each quietly loses a little · Break arrangements tend to slip · Punishment a three-way knot that presses on itself · Clash directly opposite on the circleTogether they turn to Earth. Deep winter and late winter sit side by side on the circle of twelve.
Rat is the middle and Dragon the close. Add Monkey at the start and the three make Water.
Rat is the middle and Monkey the start. Add Dragon at the close and the three make Water.
Rat × Rat
Season, hour and direction all coincide (deep winter, 11pm–1am, due north). Monkey and Dragon fill what is missing.
Water feeds Wood, so Rat supports; 2 steps apart (lunar months 11, 1).
Water presses on Fire; 5 steps apart (lunar months 11, 4).
Earth presses on Water; 2 steps apart (lunar months 11, 9).
Both run on Water; 1 step apart (lunar months 11, 10).
Lunar months 11 and 6 — 5 steps apart.
Due north and due west, deep winter and mid-autumn — angled away from each other.
This one holds directly between the two rather than needing a third.
Due north against due south, 11pm–1am against 11am–1pm — and Water against Fire.
Take 2020: the Rat year begins on Jan 25, the lunar new year — anyone born before that is still the Pig. Saju counts the year from Lichun instead, which fell on Feb 4 that year, so births between the two dates carry one sign by custom and another in the chart. Why two different rules?
| Year | Starts (lunar new year) | Lichun (Saju year) |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | Jan 25 | Feb 4 |
| 2008 | Feb 7 | Feb 4 |
| 1996 | Feb 19 | Feb 4 |
| 1984 | Feb 2 | Feb 5 |
| 1972 | Feb 15 | Feb 5 |
| 1960 | Jan 28 | Feb 5 |
The branch repeats every twelve years but the stem runs on a ten-year cycle, so the same pairing only comes back after sixty. That makes five kinds of Rat year, each carrying a different stem element on top of Water.
Common Rat years include 2020, 2008, 1996, 1984, 1972, 1960, 1948 and 1936. Note that the sign changes at the lunar new year, so if you were born before that year's lunar new year you belong to the previous sign, the Pig. (A Saju year pillar changes at Lichun instead.)
The Rat pairs best with the Dragon and Monkey (the three harmonies) and gets along well with the Ox (one of the six harmonies). It clashes most with the Horse.
Cleverness, agility, diligence and a sense for money. Strong in a crisis and realistic, but prone to worry and to hiding feelings.
