Connections and teamwork shine today. Things flow better together.
Today is a day where consistency shines for Monkey. It may feel slow at first, but momentum builds as the day goes on. Keep your commitments. Use the incoming energy on something you have been putting off.
The sign of wit and ingenuity — a clever problem-solver who untangles anything.
The Monkey is smart, quick to improvise and endlessly curious. Sociable and versatile, but bores easily and may rely on cleverness or fail to stick with one thing.
Fun, lively love. Great conversation and charm, but bores easily — lasts with a partner who keeps creating novelty together.
Shines where wit and variety matter — IT, planning, marketing, broadcasting, trade, any fast-changing field.
Quick to spot opportunities with a good feel for investing. Focusing on proven options rather than dabbling everywhere keeps wealth stable.

Sin–Ja–Jin Water — opening seat
It was the Monkey, the story says, who worked out how to build the raft — short on the strength to cross alone, but able to invent the means for three. The Sin (申) hour (3–5pm) is when the day's work starts being tied off, and this seat opens autumn.
Read from the Sin (申) seat. What do these terms mean?
Three Harmony three signs that together form one element · Six Harmony one of the six pairs the twelve fold into · Neutral no fixed harmony or clash · Same Seat the same branch twice · Harm each quietly loses a little · Clash directly opposite on the circleRat is the middle and Monkey the start. Add Dragon at the close and the three make Water.
Dragon is the close and Monkey the start. Add Rat at the middle and the three make Water.
Together they turn to Water. Early summer and early autumn are 3 steps apart, mirrored across the line between Rat–Ox and Horse–Goat.

Take 2016: the Monkey year begins on Feb 8, the lunar new year — anyone born before that is still the Goat. Saju counts the year from Lichun instead, which fell on Feb 4 that year, so births between the two dates carry one sign by custom and another in the chart. Why two different rules?
| Year | Starts (lunar new year) | Lichun (Saju year) |
|---|---|---|
| 2016 | Feb 8 | Feb 4 |
| 2004 | Jan 22 | Feb 4 |
| 1992 | Feb 4 | Feb 4 |
| 1980 | Feb 16 | Feb 5 |
| 1968 | Jan 30 | Feb 5 |
| 1956 | Feb 12 | Feb 5 |
The branch repeats every twelve years but the stem runs on a ten-year cycle, so the same pairing only comes back after sixty. That makes five kinds of Monkey year, each carrying a different stem element on top of Metal.
2016, 2004, 1992, 1980, 1968, 1956 and 1944 are Monkey years. If born before the lunar new year you may belong to the previous sign, the Goat.
The Monkey's best matches are the Rat and Dragon, and it pairs well with the Snake. Tension tends to arise with the Tiger.
By adding steadiness to its brilliant wit. Taming boredom and focusing on one field turns talent into real results.
