Hae–Myo–Mi Wood — storing seat
The tale has it cross on a raft built together with the Monkey and the Rooster — a river none of the three could manage alone. Less a race than an arrival in company. The Mi (未) hour (1–3pm) is when the heat starts to break, handing summer to autumn.
Read from the Mi (未) seat. What do these terms mean?
Three Harmony three signs that together form one element · Six Harmony one of the six pairs the twelve fold into · Neutral no fixed harmony or clash · Same Seat the same branch twice · Harm each quietly loses a little · Clash directly opposite on the circle · Punishment a three-way knot that presses on itselfRabbit is the middle and Goat the close. Add Pig at the start and the three make Wood.
Together they turn to Earth. Midsummer and late summer sit side by side on the circle of twelve.
Goat is the close and Pig the start. Add Rabbit at the middle and the three make Wood.
Wood presses on Earth; 5 steps apart (lunar months 1, 6).
Both run on Earth; 3 steps apart (lunar months 3, 6).
Fire feeds Earth, so Snake supports; 2 steps apart (lunar months 4, 6).
Goat × Goat
Season, hour and direction all coincide (late summer, 1–3pm, south-southwest). Pig and Rabbit fill what is missing.

It completes when Ox, the missing third, joins.
Take 2015: the Goat year begins on Feb 19, the lunar new year — anyone born before that is still the Horse. Saju counts the year from Lichun instead, which fell on Feb 4 that year, so births between the two dates carry one sign by custom and another in the chart. Why two different rules?
| Year | Starts (lunar new year) | Lichun (Saju year) |
|---|---|---|
| 2015 | Feb 19 | Feb 4 |
| 2003 | Feb 1 | Feb 4 |
| 1991 | Feb 15 | Feb 4 |
| 1979 | Jan 28 | Feb 4 |
| 1967 | Feb 9 | Feb 4 |
| 1955 | Jan 24 | Feb 4 |
The branch repeats every twelve years but the stem runs on a ten-year cycle, so the same pairing only comes back after sixty. That makes five kinds of Goat year, each carrying a different stem element on top of Earth.
2015, 2003, 1991, 1979, 1967, 1955 and 1943 are Goat years. If born before the lunar new year you may belong to the previous sign, the Horse.
The Goat goes well with the Rabbit and Pig and forms a good bond with the Horse. Friction arises most with the Ox.
Warm affection, artistic sense and consideration. Firming up its tender heart and adding decisiveness builds a steadier fortune.
